Robot programming
As part of the university program “Interface School-University” of the Ministry of Science, Further Education and Culture of Rhineland-Palatinate, the Environmental Campus Birkenfeld of Trier University has been offering regular vacation courses for high school students since 2011. The courses cover various topics from the natural sciences, technology and computer science and are offered by staff from the Department of Environmental Planning/ Environmental Engineering.
The courses are now available with changing offerings during the summer, fall, and Easter breaks, so it is worth checking this page regularly for the latest course offerings.
In this course, mobile, autonomous robots from the manufacturer “makeblock” are built and programmed. The robots are based on the widely used and open source Arduino hardware. First goal of the course is to get familiar with the single functions of the robot like line following and ultrasonic sensor or actuators like LED matrices, motors or loudspeakers and to assemble the robot. Afterwards, the movement and user interaction will be programmed by the students on the basis of some examples.
