On Thursday, June 09, 2022, the kiosk at the Hauptmarkt was “Trier’s smallest lecture hall” for one afternoon: The Umwelt-Campus Birkenfeld was on the road as a partner of the Robotix-Academy with a small booth to draw attention to the latest trends and applications in robotics.
The scientists of the Umwelt-Campus had brought some exhibits from their everyday research and presented them to an interested audience: In addition to Pepper, the humanoid robot, another highlight was Microsoft’s Hololens, augmented reality glasses that add virtual elements to reality and can be used in a variety of ways. In addition, there was a small training robot that could be programmed in a very playful way, but which has just as good technical characteristics as a classic industrial robot.
So there was something for young and old alike, and the Academy’s experts were happy to provide information about work and training opportunities in technical professions. It was a successful afternoon in Trier’s smallest lecture hall and perhaps Pepper, the little robot lady, could inspire the researchers of tomorrow.
