From February 06, 2017 to February 10, 2017, the 3rd Robotix educational event with 31 students from the Greater Region took place at the University of Liège. In addition to the host University of Liège (Prof. Bruls), the participating students come from the University of Saarbrücken (Prof. Müller), the University of Luxembourg (Prof. Plapper) as well as the Trier University of Applied Sciences Umwelt-Campus Birkenfeld (Prof. Gerke) and the Université de Lorraine (Prof. Abba).
In the lecture Robotix “Human-Robot-Cooperation in Industrial Production” the students were given an insight into robotics and this was deepened with the help of exercises and practical project work.
In order to promote intercultural exchange, Dr. Anders Seim from process management consulting AG in Saarbrücken conducted a teambuilding session. In international teams, students solved various tasks, got to know each other and reflected on their impressions afterwards. This created the prerequisite for successful teamwork, which was to be further deepened in the project work.
One focus of the lecture was the topic of human-robot cooperation. Human-robot cooperation-capable robot systems allow the implementation of applications in which no additional protective devices are required. Appropriate robot systems were presented to the students during the course. As a conclusion of the course, the students implemented robot applications in a practical group work, in which classical tasks such as handling objects, pick & place tasks as well as sensitive joining were realized by the students with the help of the MRK-capable robot systems.
The event was completed by presentations of the companies Schunk, ABB and KUKA, which also addressed the topic of MRC.
Finally, on behalf of the professors, students and participants, we would like to express our sincere thanks to our sponsors for their generous financial support, without their support the execution of such a course would not be possible.
